Who are we?

The Jabador brand

Jabador.com created and produced his own designs of traditional Moroccan men's clothing, online since 2009. It is one of the oldest shops in the sector in Europe.

We are not a reseller, our cuts, our colors and our embroideries are designed by our stylist, then crafted in our workshops in Morocco, in Fez and Casablanca. The catalog covers the jabador, the gandoura, the djellaba, the men's kaftan, the selham and the babouche slippers.

The specialization is complete and deliberate, focusing exclusively on traditional men's clothing, whereas most sites in the sector mix women's and men's collections.

Jabador.com sells online since 2009, which is more than fifteen years. At that time, traditional Moroccan clothing was found almost exclusively in physical stores or in the souk, and Jabador.com was one of the first sites to make it accessible online from Europe.

This longevity has a concrete consequence: the workshops we work with today have been selected over fifteen years of collaborations, trials, and customer feedback.

Both, each in its place. Jabador.com is a French brand, based in France, which allows for short delivery times in France and Europe, French-speaking customer service, and the European legal framework, 14-day right of withdrawal, secure payment, VAT included.

The manufacturing is entirely Moroccan, in Fez and Casablanca. We are not a wholesaler of imported items, the pieces are produced for Jabador.com in the workshops we have selected.

Our ceremony pieces are crafted by artisans of Fes, a leading center for Moroccan embroidery and trimmings. The selection process has evolved over the years, based on three criteria: the consistency of the embroidery, the durability of the sfifa trimmings over time, and the consistency from one batch to the next.

That’s what fifteen years of experience teaches you: how to recognize a Mao collar that’s sewn correctly, a sfifa that won’t lose its shape, and even 4-thread gold embroidery that runs consistently along the entire length.

Four reasons, and they are verifiable:

  • Exclusive models, we create our cuts and embroideries, designed by our Franco-Moroccan stylist for the tastes of the diaspora. You won't find them anywhere else.
  • Seniority, online since 2009, featuring selected workshops from this period.
  • The specialization, exclusively traditional men's clothing, not just one section among others.
  • Value for money, we produce ourselves, without import intermediaries: a level of finish usually found at higher prices.
  • The European framework, shipping from France, delivery in 24 to 72 hours in Europe, 14-day returns, customer service available.

We are producers, not resellers. There is no intermediary, neither importer nor distributor, between our workshops and you. This short chain is what makes it possible to offer a 4-thread embroidery or a hand- sfifa stitched product at an affordable price.

The catalog also combines two production methods: hand-crafted ceremonial pieces and a range produced in an industrial workshop for everyday models. Everyone can find the level of finish that suits their use and budget.

Yes, and that is what sets us apart the most. Our designs and embroideries are created by us, not purchased from a catalog. Cuts, colors, embroidery designs, choice of trimmings, everything is designed in advance, then made in our workshops in Morocco.

We do not resell any collection from another brand, and you will not find our models anywhere else.

By the taste to which they appeal. Our stylist is French-Moroccan, she understands the expectations of the diaspora in Europe, which are not exactly those of the Moroccan market.

The color retained, the embroidery density, the degree of sobriety of a ceremonial piece, the more or less tailored cut, on all these points, what is worn in Casablanca and what appeals in Paris, Brussels, or Milan differ. Our collections are designed for the latter.

This is also why a jabador bought at the souk and a Jabador.com jabador do not look alike, even with comparable fabric quality.

Yes, customer reviews are available on the website. They cover the quality of the finishes, the accuracy of the sizes, and the delivery times.

Jabador.com is also cited as a reference for traditional Moroccan clothing by several fashion and event websites.

Before ordering

Choose your size

Visit size guide Jabador.com provides the correspondences between size, chest circumference, waist circumference, and weight, in both metric and imperial systems. It is accessible from each product page.

For the traditional clothing, weight is often a better reference than usual size, the cuts are loose and do not follow the conventions of European ready-to-wear.

Choose the next size up. The jabador and the gandoura are meant to be worn loose: a size that’s too tight will feel restrictive at the shoulders and sleeves, whereas the next size up simply drapes more fluidly.

The djellaba is worn over another outfit: here, too, it’s best to aim for a loose fit.

Not exactly. Traditional Moroccan clothing follows its own proportions, which are looser than European ready-to-wear. Always refer to the size guide rather than your usual shirt or jacket size.

If in doubt, email us your height and weight, and we will tell you the right size.

Fabrics and craftsmanship

Materials and manufacturing

Each type of room has its own materials:

  • Moroccan Thobe gabardine or linen
  • Jabador 3 pieces gabardine for the tunic and pants, chiffon for the cape
  • Jabador 2 pieces gabardine
  • Djellaba gabardine
  • Djellaba, transparent chiffon or sousdi fabric

The exact material is specified on each product page.

No, none of the items in the Jabador.com catalog are made of silk. We work with gabardine, chiffon, linen, and sousdi fabric.

This choice is deliberate; these fabrics hold their shape better, withstand routine maintenance, and are well-suited for long ceremonies.

Gabardine is a tightly woven fabric with a diagonal weave that hangs straight and does not wrinkle easily. It is the standard fabric for the jabador and the djellaba; it maintains the garment’s structure, supports embroidery, and retains its appearance even after being worn several times.

Sousdi is a lightweight, translucent fabric used for sheer djellabas garments worn over another outfit, such as a farajiya, a jabador, or a qamis. It adds movement without adding heat, making it the ideal fabric for summer outfits and ceremonies in warm climates.

All our clothes are made in Morocco, in Fes and Casablanca. Jabador.com is a French brand founded in 2009, specializing since its inception in traditional men's clothing.

The catalogue combines two modes of production. The ceremonial pieces receive a more elaborate finish, sfifa with embroidery, akads, and a hand-stitched Mao collar on the relevant models. Another part of the range is produced in industrial workshop, which makes it possible to offer affordable prices on everyday models.

In both cases, manufacturing takes place in Morocco. The level of finish is indicated on each product sheet.

Sfifa is the traditional trim that borders the mandarin collar and sometimes the openings of the garment.

4-thread embroidery refers to embroidery executed with four threads simultaneously, providing a depth and brilliance that standard embroidery cannot achieve. It is the most elaborate finish in our collection.

For embroidered pieces and ceremonial models, the dry cleaning is recommended, it preserves the sfifa, the embroidery, and the fabric's integrity.

For simple pieces in gabardine or linen, hand washing or machine washing at 30 °C on a delicate cycle is suitable, inside out and without strong spin drying.

Iron on medium heat, inside out, avoiding the embroidered areas. Dry flat or on a hanger, away from direct sunlight.

Which room, when

Choosing an outfit

These are three distinct rooms, often confused:

  • Jabador : two-piece set, a tunic fastened with a mandarin collar and matching trousers. Three-piece version with a cape. This is the ceremonial attire.
  • Moroccan Thobe : a long, hoodless dress with short sleeves or no sleeves, lighter than the djellaba. Worn on its own, especially in the summer and during Ramadan.
  • Djellaba : a long dress with a pointed hood and long sleeves. Unlike the gandoura, it is never worn on its own but always over another outfit.

Visit kaftan Men's is a three-piece ceremonial outfit whose embroidered tunic reaches down to the ankles. It is primarily the groom's outfit.

Not to be confused with the women's kaftan, which is much more colorful and intricate. The English spelling «kaftan» also predominantly refers to women's styles.

Visit selham, called burnous or "barnous," depending on the region of the Maghreb, is a traditional hooded cloak worn over the jabador or the djellaba on special occasions. It is the garment that gives the groom his distinctive look as he makes his entrance.

It is worn in Morocco as well as in Algeria, where it is part of men's ceremonial attire.

For the married a jabador or a kaftan Men's, Traditionally in plain white, complemented by selham one for the entrance. The embroidered models are the ones that are most popular.

For one guest : a two- or three-piece jabador in a color other than off-white, midnight blue, green, or taupe. By convention, off-white is left for the groom.

For the’Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Kebir : a gandoura or a jabador, depending on how formal the occasion is.

For the Friday prayer and during the Ramadan : a gandoura or a djellaba, which are easier to wear and more comfortable over time.

For the Hajj and Umrah : a white djellaba.

For a sermon (request for wedding) or a Hello, a jabador or a kaftan is suitable, these ceremonies are more formal than everyday wear, without reaching the splendor of the wedding.

For a henna party, colored models, green, midnight blue, are customary, often in three pieces with the cape.

For the moment, The items for sale on Jabador.com are men's clothing.

The pages dedicated to women's outfits, kaftan woman, takchita, djellaba woman, women's jabador, and children's outfits are currently informative guides without associated sales. This could change.
